Uncommon conversations about the business of work

Interested in the potential of work not just as means of making money, but as a way to realise human potential?

If yes, then you may want to check out a teleseminar series of conversations on this very topic, under the title Waking up the Workplace – Global Conversations to Awaken a World of Conscious Business.

Here’s how the producers describe the thinking behind the series:

Business is one of the most powerful forces in the modern world. And yet work is usually seen as a method solely for making money. Why is business falling short of its potential to create truly global change in the way that we live and work?

What would happen if we saw the business of work, not just as a means for trade and profit, but as a vehicle for realizing our deepest human potentials in a conscious and creative transformation?

This is the question at the heart of the ‘Waking up the Workplace’ series. We invite you to join the conversation and help transform business into an expression of sustainable change in the world.

Every conversation I’ve listened to so far offered some good ideas and thought-provoking perspectives.

I particularly enjoyed the conversation with Bill Torbert, whose ideas are deeply embedded in my own thinking, and of whom I have fond memories as the leader of a 3 day workshop in Boston a few years ago.

Here are a few things that are good to know if you want to check this out.

  • Access is free – and there really is no other product being marketed.
  • There is a schedule, and all interviews can be downloaded after the fact.
  • The interviewers are young men from the Netherlands who ask deep and thought provoking questions of their experts.
  • The experts cover the range from young to mature, from hands-on business leaders to thought leaders about leadership and organisations.
  • The interviews (including a Q&A session) are about 90 minutes each – so downloading and listening at your leisure to the ones that catch your attention may be the best way to dip into this.
